3 Internet Marketing Mistakes to Avoid
from: Deb St. George - MarketingSalesCopy.comNew entrepreneurs make mistakes every day and Internet marketers are no different. The trick is to learn from your mistakes and not repeat them. It is even better if you can learn from the mistakes of others so you can save yourself and your Internet marketing business a lot of grief, time, and money. There are more, but the following mistakes are ones you will want to avoid.
Neglecting to Update Your Website
You may have the most engaging website yet if you neglect to update it often with fresh information, visitors will stop coming and the ones that do land on your site will quickly leave before you have had the chance to make any money. Even if your site is ranking high in the search engines, you won’t keep that status unless you regularly provide relevant, fresh content. Also, keep up with market trends so that you know what site visitors are looking for. After all, you can’t serve your customers well if you don’t know what they are looking for, whether that is information or products or services.
Spamming
One of the biggest mistakes beginning Internet marketers make is using Spam as a marketing tool. Don’t spend time and energy, let alone money, trying to get past the Spam filters in email programs. Even if you do, your message will be deleted or ignored and the only thing worse than your site being unheard of is you or your website being viewed as a nuisance. Only use email to market to people on your marketing list where you have obtained their email addresses with their permission. In addition, when visiting online forums and discussion boards, don’t Spam the boards with advertisements for your products or websites. You will be viewed as a Spammer and a pest and this action will generate no revenue for you. Even worse, you will have lost out on the chance to become a valued and respected member of that community, which could lead to potential profits down the road.
Borrowing Heavily to Finance Your Internet Marketing Business
There was a time, before the advent of the Internet, when those who started their own businesses had to either save up the money to do so or take out a loan. However, that is not necessary in order to start your Internet marketing business. Even if you have little or no startup money to invest, you can still start your business, you may just have to start small and work at it awhile until you can build up the revenue you need. Going heavily into debt to start any business is just not a good idea so give this idea careful consideration before going into debt.
